You have probably received all kinds of advice about how to look for a career. Everyone who gives it anoints themselves an expert – even if they have no clue.

The old ways of searching are out the window and now, even with technology, it seems harder than ever to find a great job.

The good news is, this isn’t rocket science, but there is a methodology that works every time; if you follow it.  

If you are diligent about following the steps you need to take, you will be successful.

It’s important to be honest with yourself and others.  Allow yourself to be transparent and convey who you really are and not what you think others expect you to be. If you do this, you will be fine.

It’s easy to get tied up and even paralyzed thinking we need to find the “right career” somewhere out there.  Often it may be that we need to create the right opportunity for ourselves—either inside an organization OR on our own. 

The “overnight success” is more myth than reality. You will derive the most satisfaction from using your strengths and talent while finding the opportunities that will deliver your definition of success.  Satisfaction and fulfillment are the most important elements to your entering this journey. Everything else will follow.
